SeaCart 26 . Big Bang Theory on Boats Blog

The all-new SeaCart 26 has obvious similarities with America’s Cup multihulls — but also some very practical solutions.

Last February, millions tuned in to watch BMW Oracle Racing win the America’s Cup. All of the legal arguments aside, there is no doubt that when the monster trimaran pulled the trigger to blast around the course at alarming speed, any avid sailor would have given his eye-teeth to be on board.

Multi-million dollar flying machines are only within the reach of the lucky few, but Swedish yacht designers Oceanlake Marine, have been working on that problem and look to be delivering a big bang for your buck… Continue reading at Boats Blog

Main Hull Mould News

Now it’s official; Pink is the mould skeleton flavour 2011

As the year draws to an end the final touches have been put on the main hull mould for the new SeaCart 26 OD. Sorry, but even we’re at a loss to explain why the supporting skeleton structure received a coat of pink paint! Maybe the guys and/or girls at CMI believe that in 2011 pink will be the new black… time will tell.

The lay up of the first main hull will commence in the New Year. The boat will then be assembled and all the hardware added. The amount of people lining up for test sailing in Thailand is increasing every week. The team from Oceanlake Marine are eager to get on board to rigorously test sail and then race at the Top of the Gulf regatta in Pattaya (to be confirmed).

Floats, Flintstones and Facebook

Completed float halves before joining.

The first float halves have been laminated and are ready for joining. The PVC foam core was first pre-formed in one piece inside the moulds before being taken out prior to gelcoat being applied. The laminate of E-glass and foam was then added before vacuum bagging taking place. Internal frames and bulkheads have been inserted into one half, the next step will be to join the vertical halves and finish. The hull will be complete – stay tuned!

There’s been a lot of focus recently surrounding the new AC multihulls with references to the Flintstone and Facebook generations. Being a new multihull on the market we thought that SeaCart Trimarans should have a Facebook page of its own. So if you’re a member of the Facebook generation, or part of the Flintstone generation who uses Facebook, ‘Like’ our page and be kept up to date with news and stories. We’ll also broadcast news and events via Twitter, follow us there too!

WYRF 2010 and Spithill Speech

AC 34 panel members: Loïck Peyron, Bruno Troublé, Cam Lewis, Iain Murray, Mark Bullingham

In continuation of our quest to promote the SeaCart 26 OD and launch it onto the world racing scene Calle Hennix has again attended the World Yacht Racing Forum (WYRF). This year held in Estoril, Portugal, the WYRF brings together all the major stakeholders in the sailing industry for networking and seminars. It is a great way to meet race organisers (VOR, AC, Vendee Globe, MOD 70), designers, ISAF, racing teams, sponsors and discuss industry trends and the future of the sport. WYRF also presents case studies of the most successful events outside of the sailing world, like Moto GP, to study and investigate how key factors to their success can be applied to sailing. All in all it’s two very interesting and intense days running in tandem with a yacht design forum.

Watch James Spithills (Helsman BMW Oracle Racing, winner of AC 33) interesting keynote speech about the future of the America’s Cup and multihulls.
